Pimples, boils, zits, acne – by any name, they’re horrible! Pimples are most common in teenagers and adults with hormonal imbalances. They are inflammations on the skin created by bacteria battling with your sebaceous (oil) glands. Pimples are most commonly seen on the facial skin, back, neck, and shoulders. Several people also get oily boils on their stomachs and inner thighs.
Some of the most effective ways to avoid pimples are to cut back on the consumption of junk and oily foods, remove makeup with cleansers, and to use an oil-balancing face wash. Keeping your skin healthy by drinking lots of water and cleaning it regularly with a good quality cleanser also helps.
Let’s look at some do-it-yourself tips to help you battle your acne.

- Cut a clove of garlic in half. Rub the cut side directly on to the pimple/boil.
- Leave this juice on your face for about 5-7 minutes and wash off with room temperature water.
You can repeat this procedure three times daily to get visible results every time. Try this and see how pimples diminish and disappear within 2-3 days!

- Wash a handful of fresh mint leaves and soak them in water for 10 minutes. Once soaked, grind them to a thick paste.
- Apply this paste to your pimpled areas to get immediate relief from heat and itchiness.
The cooling properties in mint help subdue the pimples and reduce the heat emanating from them. Regular use of this paste helps in reducing acne size and leftover dark marks and scars.

Turmeric and yogurt have superior medicinal properties that can decrease and eventually erase your acne. Turmeric has an outstanding antiseptic lineage and is used for a variety of reasons including lightening of the facial skin.
- Mix 3 tablespoons of yogurt with one tablespoon of turmeric to form a thick yellow paste.
- Apply this paste as a mask to your entire face, covering the neck. Leave on for roughly 20 mins till slightly dry.
- Wash off thoroughly with cold water.
Use this mask at least once a week to protect your face from excess oil secretion and prevent pimple reemergence. This mask can also be used on the back, shoulders, and thighs.
